Parking 

In order to keep our students safe and teach them traffic safety rules kindly pay attention to and be respectful of the following: 

Please... 

• respect posted speed limits, playground zones and no U-turn signs  
• avoid U-turns during busy times (drop-off and pick-up) 
• park 5 meters from stop signs, intersections and crosswalks and 1.5 meters of driveways and garages
• avoid parking on corners as it makes it difficult for vehicles to navigate around  
• do not park or stop in the bus zone in front of the school between 7:40am - 8:00am and 2:30pm - 3:00pm 
• use marked crosswalks to cross the street  
• ensure your children do not walk through parking lots to the compound or playground 

Best practice is to arrive at school early, park a short distance away from the school and walk the remaining distance to alleviate congestion.  

Westgate Community Centre parking lot – closed Wednesday, September 6 

The community centre parking lot will be closed on the evening of Tuesday, September 5 for some drilling by the City of Calgary to finish the wells underground. We anticipate it will be open again on Thursday, September 7. Please plan accordingly if you typically use this parking lot for pick up and drop off. 

Welcome Back Assembly 

On Thursday, September 7, we will hold a brief assembly to welcome all students back to Westgate School. This will be an opportunity to introduce all staff to the students and sing some songs and dance together. Due to limited space for this assembly, we are unable to accommodate family members. Throughout the school year, each grade will plan and perform in an assembly, to which their families will be invited. 

Apple Fundraiser

Westgate School Council invites you to help kick off the school year by supporting our apple fundraiser. Fresh Davison apples from the Okanogan will be coming to Westgate soon.
