50 ans de français à Calgary!!

This school year marks 50 years of French immersion programs in the Calgary Board of Education. To recognize and celebrate this important milestone our Francophonie Club will be visiting all classes to ask students “Why is it important to you to learn French?” We will collect the answers and post them on a bulletin board to share with and display for our school community.

Grade 2 Assembly

Grade 2 is celebrating 50 Years of French Immersion! They are singing French songs that demonstrate their understanding of growing patterns, French sounds, changing of the seasons and being a responsible citizen. Students will be showcasing their learning of lifecycles in science through videos they created. Parents and guardians of Grade 2 students only are invited to join the assembly. Please arrive 5 to 15 minutes before the start of the assembly. (9:00am or 1:00pm).

Book Fair

During the week of November 21-24, 2023, students will have an opportunity to select and purchase books from the Book Fair. You can send money with your child(ren) so they can purchase books when they visit the Book Fair with their class. Please be aware there are a wide variety of items available for purchase such as books, pencils, erasers, bookmarks, journals and highlighters. Please ensure you have a conversation with your child about responsible choices and a plan for their purchases.

We would also like to offer parents an opportunity to come to the school during the days and times below to purchase books. If you choose to visit the Book Fair during school hours or volunteer for the Book Fair, we ask that you do not request to pull your child out of class.

Tuesday, November 21: 12:30 - 4:00pm
 Wednesday, November 22: 8:00am - 3:00am
 Thursday, November 23: 8:00am - 7:00pm
 Friday, November 24: 8:00am - Noon

We still require a couple of volunteers to help at the Book Fair on Thursday, November 23 from 5:00 - 7:00pm. If you would like to volunteer at the Book Fair, please sign up here

Diversity and Inclusion

We will be postponing our Family Cultural Event to the new year. We have two parents who have volunteered to help coordinate but teachers have also indicated their interest in including sharing and learning with the students during the school day as well as having families come to the school in the evening. The idea would be for families to be able to share aspects of their culture and religion with members of the school community. We will communicate an update to parents in the new year.

The Diversity Committee is looking for a few parent volunteers to help once a month with our bulletin board display of cultural dates of significance in the school. If you are interested, please email jmarmand@cbe.ab.ca.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is extremely full of lost items. Please remind your child to check for their lost items. The lost and found will be on display at the front entrance during Student Learning Conferences. If you wish to come to the school to see if any of your child(ren)’s items are in the lost and found, please enter through the main entrance and check in at the office first.
