When Your Child Is Sick

As we move into the fall and winter months, we would like to remind families of the importance of keeping students home when they are unwell. This helps your child recover and reduces the spread of illness within our school community.

If your child is experiencing symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, significant coughing, or is simply not feeling well enough to comfortably participate in a regular school day, please keep them home until they are feeling better and able to take part in their usual activities.

We recognize that deciding whether a child is well enough to attend school can sometimes be difficult. Our goal is to support healthy students and staff while minimizing the spread of illness.

Thank you for helping us keep Westgate a healthy and welcoming place for everyone.

Terry Fox Run

We had a wonderful event last week with all our students running together for Terry Fox. Thank you also to those parents who were able to run along or cheer us on! Our fundraising goal was $6000 and thanks to our students and parents, $10,920.80 was raised for this amazing cause. Your generosity is very much appreciated. As promised, Mme Julie and Mme Stephanie will be wearing banana costumes on Friday morning as students surpassed the fundraising goal of $8000.00.

Westhills Soccer Club Residency | Cavalry FC Visit | Oct.5-9, 2026

We are so excited to welcome coaches from Westhills Soccer Club to Westgate School next week! They will be doing soccer sessions with all K to 6 students during their scheduled gym time. On Monday morning, members from the Cavalry FC Soccer team will be visiting the school as well! This is thanks to a collaboration between CMSA and Cavalry FC called “Soccer in Schools”. We encourage students to wear Cavalry FC gear, soccer jerseys or sports jerseys throughout the week.

Fun Lunch and Popcorn / Donut Days
Fun Lunch (Grade 1 - 6 only)

Westgate School's next Fun Lunch Day is Wednesday, October 14. Lunch dates for the year have been posted on the Healthy Hunger website. Orders can be placed for the remainder of the year or individually prior to monthly deadlines. Orders will not be accepted after the cut-off date (Friday night prior to the special lunch day).

Special lunch is not available to Kindergarten students as the orders are distributed during the lunch break.

Popcorn / Donut Sales (Kindergarten - Grade 6)

Our first popcorn day is Friday, October 9. The popcorn comes in six flavours: Buttersalt, Dill Pickle, Low Fat Caramel, Cheddar, White Cheddar, and Salt & Vinegar - $3 per bag!

Popcorn must be pre-ordered and cannot be purchased on the day of the event.  All popcorn days for the year have also been posted on the Healthy Hunger website. Orders will not be accepted after the cut-off date (Sunday night prior to the popcorn day).

Proceed from popcorn sales and fun lunches go toward funding various in-school programs and other experiences, materials or equipment that enhance student learning.

Donut days help fund the grade 6 farewell.
