Carnaval de Westgate

Next week we will be celebrating Carnaval DE WESTGATE!

This will be a special few days where we get to explore Canadian French Culture through fun activities. We will have special guests from the Francophonie Clubs at our partner schools, Bishop Pinkham and Western Canada, as well as Franco-Albertan musician and storyteller, Roger Dallaire, who will perform to all students by grade groupings on February 7th and 8th. On Wendesday the 7th, classes will get to participate in the much loved tradition of Cabane à Sucre. On Thursday, Carnaval stations will be set up for classes to experience and enjoy throughout the day. To wrap up the week of experiential learning we are inviting all families to a showcase of the activities in an after school event from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Games and activities from the day will be set out for parents to see what the students have learned. In addition there will be music, scavenger hunt, crêpes, hot chocolate and a food truck, as well as ice skating on our community rink – all weather permitting of course! For more information please see the attached flyer.

We are looking for several volunteers to make this event successful. If you are able to help in any way - by supplying crêpes, helping with stations either throughout the day or in the evening or volunteering to dress up as the Bonhomme mascot - please sign up here

Looking forward to seeing many Westgate families join us!
