Retake and Class Photo Day
Photo retakes and class photos will take place on Monday, November 9. Children that were absent from school on the original photo day or who are new to the school will have their picture taken on Retake Day.
For children who require retakes, please check the “retake request box” at the bottom of the photo order form and return it with your child to give to the photographer on retake day. If you have lost the proof sheet, please send a handwritten note with your child to request a retake.
Community Education Service Sessions
The sessions from Community Education Services focus on supporting child and youth well-being. Hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with experts from the Calgary community, these sessions are designed to equip families with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to navigate topics related to student well-being.
These sessions are free and provide information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development.

Badminton Residency
We'd like to thank our badminton coaches for a wonderful residency this week. This was provided at no cost through the City of Calgary Sports Hub Program. Coaches from Gao Badminton Club facilitated sessions with all K-6 students during their PE time. Students seem to really enjoy the sessions and teachers were able to learn some skills and activities as well.
Clothes Needed
We are looking for gently used pants (leggings, cotton pants, jeans) for our emergency clothes cupboard. If you have any pants sizes 5-12 that you can donate, please send them to the office.
Remembrance Day Assembly
A Remembrance Day Assembly will be held on Tuesday, November 17 for Westgate students only. Each student will receive a poppy to wear at the assembly. Donations to the Poppy Fund will be collected at the school if you wish to send money with your child.
If your child is involved in Brownies, Girl Guides, Scouts, Cadets, etc. they are welcome to wear their uniform to school.
Celebrating the Cultures of Our School Community! November 26
During our upcoming School Conferences, we would love to invite families to share and celebrate their cultural heritage with our school community! Families who are interested in participating will have the opportunity to set up a display between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m., where they can showcase aspects of their culture through traditional foods, clothing, artifacts, photographs, and other meaningful items.
Tables and chairs will be provided upon request. Families are welcome to set up in the hallway near the main office. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students, families, and staff to learn about and appreciate the rich cultural diversity that makes our school community so special.
We hope many families will consider participating and helping us celebrate the cultures and traditions that enrich our Westgate community!
Please email Madame Julie if you are interested (jamuhlberger@cbe.ab.ca)
