Dear Westgate families, I hope you have enjoyed a restful and fun summer. We are all looking forward to welcoming students back to Westgate next week for another wonderful year. I thought I would send out a quick email to answer some common questions and provide a few important updates. Please read this email carefully. If your child is not returning to Westgate School for the 2026-27 school year, please contact us immediately at westgate@cbe.ab.ca. - School starts on Monday, August 31 at 8:00 am for grades 1-6.
- Kindergarten students have a staggered entry on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1 as per information that was provided to Kindergarten parents in the spring. Further details on our staggered entry can be found on the Back to School page of our website. For more information on our school, please see our Kindergarten/Grade 1 page. Please note that kindergarten hours have changed by a few minutes.
- Pick Up Information Required Teachers will be sending out a link to collect information regarding how your child will go home at the end of each day. It is very important that you complete the Pickup Information form. Please complete it by end of the day on August 27, 2026. Providing this information before the deadline helps us enormously.
For students on school buses, individual stop information will be available to families who have pre-registered in your MyCBE account. More bussing information can be found on the CBE transportation page. If you have any concerns or questions, please email Transportation. Please sign up for the School Bus Monitor and MyBusStop app to stay informed on daily route updates. - Lunch and Bus fees will be posted to MyCBE accounts in mid-October.
- From Tuesday, September 1 onwards, entry doors open at 7:55 am and classes start promptly at 8:00 am. Please encourage your child to arrive on time every day.
- There is absolutely no parking in the bus zone or staff parking lots for pick-up or drop-off. Please help keep all our children safe.
- Children must enter/exit using their assigned doors as advised by Teachers.
- Morning supervision starts at 7:45 am every day. If you arrive before this time, you must stay with your child until teachers are outside to supervise students.
- Teachers will be contacting families by noon Thursday, August 27 to let you know about class placement and where to meet on the first day. If for some reason you do not hear from us by Thursday, you can give the school a call on Thursday afternoon or come to the office on the morning of the first day of school. Please remember that we do not take teacher requests unless you have important information about your child that we did not have when making class lists in June.
- School supplies are purchased by the school and a charge will be found on your MyCBE accounts in early October. You do not need to provide any supplies.
- We will have our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, September 24. More information will be sent closer to that time.
