Grade 2 Student Support
With our higher class sizes in Grade 2, we are fortunate to use some additional Alberta Learning funding to increase Mme Sepideh’s time at school. She will be now also working on Wednesdays with students requiring additional support in literacy and numeracy in Grade 2, either in small groups or individually. If you have any questions please contact your child’s homeroom teacher, Mme Julie or Mme Stephanie.
Thank you to our parent volunteers!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the parent volunteers who have helped in the classroom, on field trips and for healthy hunger lunches (and in light of the next item, those who support our school events!). Your support is very valued in our school community and we appreciate all you do to support our staff and students.
Volunteers Needed for School Events
Westgate School Council is looking for volunteers to help plan this year's social events: Snowball, Carnavale and Gatorfest. We need help with things like: planning outdoor and indoor activities, concession stands, hot chocolate stations, the gym dances, sorting donated items or food, and welcome any other fun ideas that you may have. Please email westgateschoolcouncil@gmail.com if you would like to learn more.
School Conferences
We look forward to welcoming families to the school for our first session of in-person. We would like to encourage parents to come in person but if you are unable to attend in person, please email your child’s teacher to organize a virtual meeting by the end of the day November 20. Conferences will be 15 minutes in duration and you are welcome to bring your child to be part of the conversation with the teacher. Please book your School Conferences through your MyCBE account.

You can send money with your child(ren) so they can purchase books when they visit the Book Fair with their class. Please be aware there are a wide variety of items available for purchase such as books, pencils, erasers, bookmarks, journals and highlighters. Please ensure you have a conversation with your child about responsible choices and a plan for their purchases.
We would also like to offer parents an opportunity to come to the school during the days and times below to purchase books. If you choose to visit the Book Fair during school hours or volunteer for the Book Fair, we ask that you do not request to pull your child out of class.
