Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser 

Individual classes marked the end of the fundraising campaign in their own ways — recognizing student efforts and sharing student progress and improvements in skipping over the past month. As a school community, we met and exceeded the fundraising campaign goal (set at $8000) by raising $11,274.00 to date! This will be matched by one of our families for a total of $22,548.00. This is an extraordinary and generous contribution to an important cause.

GatorFest 

Thank you to all the families who took part in GatorFest on May 28.  

We welcomed over 800 people to celebrate our amazing community together! 

Thank you to our dedicated and caring volunteers. We had over 160 volunteers that made the event run smoothly. Special thanks to Vanessa Huey and her team: Holly-Joy, Trish, Sarah, Sam, Li, Breda, Yulia, Gulzhamal, Shakera, Esther, Jeff, Andrea and Julie. You planned an amazing event for Westgate School. A HUGE thank you to everyone who pitched in and took time out of their busy schedules to help. Shout out to our School Council and Parents Society members who also supported the event. 

We raised $1015.00 for learning commons improvements. Thank you to Parents’ Society for matching this donation for a total of $2030 toward sound baffling curtains for the learning commons. 

We hope you had as much fun as we did, celebrating a fantastic school year! 

Sunscreen 

With these recent warm temperatures, as a reminder, we are recommending that parents send students with sunscreen on and some to reapply as needed later in the day dependent on outdoor activities. 

Pre-registration for Transportation 2026-27 Now Open 

Families are now able to apply for yellow school bus service for the 2026-27 school year.  Registration is available through MyCBE. (If you do not already have an account, learn how.)  

Families must apply by Sunday, June 14, 2026, for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 14 deadline will be delayed. It may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus. 

Confirmed routes will be posted in MyCBE in August.

Save the Date | Presentation by Serena Braun – Registered Psychologist 

Westgate School Council is happy to offer an evening with Serena Braun, BEd, MEd, MC, Registered Psychologist on June 11 from 7:00-8:00 pm at Westgate School.  

Curious about the different psychoeducational assessments available to help your student thrive? If you are, come and spend an evening with Serena as she shares her expertise and experience from the past 20 years as a teacher and psychologist.  

Presentation will be 30-40 minutes with 20 minutes Q&A.  

Lost and Found 

Our lost and found is extremely full. Please remind your child to check the lost and found for lost items. If you wish to come to the school to look through the lost and found during school hours, please enter through the main entrance and sign in at the office. 

Unclaimed items will be donated to charity. 

Gator Gardens – Parent Volunteers Needed 

We are looking to have a few volunteers that would be available during school hours to assist with our Gator Gardens in front of the school. They would be helping the grade 1s out with sowing seeds to their assigned raised garden beds. Some gardening experience is helpful but not required. If you are able to help, please email westgate@cbe.ab.ca.
