School Planning Engagement

Thank you to those parents who joined us on Thursday evening during the School Council meeting for our School Planning Engagement Presentation. We discussed our School Development Plan, School Budget and School fees for the 2024-25 school year and asked for feedback from parents to help guide our decisions for the 2025-26 school year. If you would like to access the presentation and complete the survey, all the information can be found on the linked page below on our school website. The survey will be open from Feb.27th to March 13, 2025.

Thank you to Parent Society!

Multiple requests for funding were approved by Parent Society on Thursday evening. We are excited to purchase a new guitar case for guitar lessons and club, more resources for Physical Education and Wellness and up to $10 000.00 for more Maker Space equipment and materials!

Lunch Garbage

In light of the current Facility Operator labour action, we are asking students to take their lunch garbage home with them in their lunch boxes. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Science Fair

For the past two months, Grades 5 and 6 students have been participating in the Westgate Science Club. Students have had opportunities to view and participate in science demonstrations and to learn about the scientific method.  Using this new knowledge they have undertaken a project on their own and are now almost finished and ready to present their findings.

Students will have the opportunity to present and demonstrate their projects at the Westgate Science Fair that will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. The Fair will be held in the gym throughout the entire day.

In order for the fair to be successful, we are looking for volunteers. We are in need of parent volunteers to help us set up in the morning, take down at the end of the day and judge. As a judge, listening and inquiring about a participant's project inspires the student to keep their interest in science beyond the Science Fair. The volunteer judging commitment is approximately 60 minutes to assess 3 to 5 projects, anytime during school hours, morning or afternoon. You don't need to prepare in advance or require special/previous experience. We will provide everything. It is a lot of fun talking to a student about their project! It is a great way to encourage our young scientists!  If you are available and interested in volunteering for any of these positions, please sign up using the following link

French Movie excursion – and thanks to Parent Society support!

Sincere thanks to the Parent Society who are paying for the movie and bus fees for all students to attend a French Movie at Market Mall cinemas. Grades 1 to 3 students will attend Toupie et Binou on March 5 and Grades 4 to 6, Mon chat et moi on March 6, 2025. Both excursions take place from 9:00am to 12:30pm. Thank you to parents who have returned the forms and volunteered to support. Please return forms on Monday if you have not already done so.

We’d also like to thank the Parent Society for covering our purchases for new area rugs for Kindergarten to Grade 2 classrooms and new centre materials in Kindergarten.

We truly appreciate the generosity and support of our Parent Society!

Mme Julie will message parents on Monday, March 3rd regarding popcorn and snacks. She is waiting for further information from the cinemas.

Manie Musicale

Westgate’s Manie Musicale has begun and the students are absolutely loving it! Students in all grades will continue to listen to and vote between a curated selection of 16 songs in a bracket style match-up. All entries in this tournament are en français and by francophone artists from all over the world! Two songs will battle it out every day until March 19… when one winner will be left standing. Which song will Westgate choose? Stay tuned! 🎶 Thank you Mme Erbracker for organizing this fabulous fun learning experience for our students!
