GatorFest - Admission
I would like to first take this opportunity to sincerely thank our School Council Events Committee led by the amazing work of Vanessa Huey. They are currently focused on organizing Gator Fest and did a wonderful job on both Carnaval and Snowball. These events are always well attended and greatly appreciated by members of our school community.
They have made the decision, after lots of reflection and connecting with other schools for insight, to return Gator Fest to being a school fundraiser. These funds help support student learning by providing guest speakers, workshops, and resources, and for this our school is very grateful.
Furthermore, the committee still wanted to ensure that the event was inclusive of all families. They are offering free admission, which includes $10.00 of game tickets, to any family wishing to come, without having the means. If you would like to access this opportunity, please email westgate@cbe.ab.ca and I will send you a code for free family admission.
GatorFest
GatorFest will be Thursday, May 29 from 4:30-6:30pm. This event takes place rain or shine, and is held both indoors and outside. Please look for the flyer coming home in your students' backpacks early next week for important information regarding the event.
Calling for all bakers!! We need 100 cakes for the Musical Cakes game. Parents, guardians and even grandparents are invited to volunteer! Do you have any Westgate Alumni in your family? Terry Fox – Top 50 Schools
Thank you to Westgate families and students for their participation in this year’s Terry Fox Run in September 2024. Westgate placed in the Top 50 schools in Alberta and raised approximately $10 000.00 for this wonderful cause. We’re already planning for next year and hoping to aim even higher!
Transportation 2025-26 Pre-Registration
Registration for transportation is now open. If your family is considering using transportation services for the next school year, you must register by the deadline to ensure yellow school bus service for the first day of classes in September. There is no financial obligation for registration; families have until September 30 to cancel without a fee.

SoundKreations | Dance Residency (June 2-20)
We are thrilled to welcome back SoundKreations for our annual dance residency. Part of our Physical Education curriculum focuses on directional movement and patterns and sequences of movement in rhythmic and expressive activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from an expert in the field of dance. Students will be learning moves in all three dance styles in this residency.
My 1st Ride Registration is Open
On May 24 & 25, the CBE and its partners are offering the My 1st Ride bus orientation program. This free event is designed to familiarize students with the experience of taking the yellow bus to and from school. The orientation is aimed at first-time riders and students with special transportation service, so students arrive safely, on time and ready to learn. Click here to register.
Volunteer Appreciation Tea
A huge part of what makes Westgate School such a wonderful place to be is that we come together with one another to support students. We couldn't do this without the involvement of our amazing volunteers. From joining us on field trips, reading with students, helping with popcorn and special lunch days, helping in the classroom, to behind the scenes organizing and so much more, we appreciate it all.
