Lost and Found

Our lost and found is extremely full of lost items. If you wish to come to the school to look through the lost and found during school hours, please enter through the main entrance and sign in at the office.

Items that are not claimed by Thursday, January 29 at noon, will be donated to charity.

Leadership Report

At the January 2026 School Council meeting, the Leadership Report was on Task Design, Assessment, and Report Cards.

Mme Julie, Mme Stephanie, M. Blais, and Mme Bradley presented to parents about the learning and assessment process, beginning with reviewing curricular outcomes and identifying what students need to know. They explained how teachers design tasks with multiple entry points, assess student learning, and use indicators and written comments to communicate progress on report cards.

Please see the presentation here

Gently Used Spirit Wear Sale

As true believers of the sustainable clothing movement, we are planning a special sale of gently used Westgate School spirit wear. This event will help ensure that all students, regardless of income level, have the opportunity to participate in spirit days with pride.

In preparation for this sale, we are collecting gently used Westgate spirit wear which your family no longer uses.

Donations can be brought to the office and/or brought to Carnaval (look for a bin near the hot chocolate stand)

Thank you so much. There will be more information to come in the next couple of weeks.

Report Card Update

Report cards will be available for parents to view through their MyCBE account on February 24 and will be available to view until May 29. This date was postponed from the usual end of January date due to the October learning disruption.

Next Year (Kindergarten – Grade 5)

Next Year (Grade 6)

Carnaval de Westgate

On Thursday, February 5 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm, all Westgate families are invited to attend the special outdoor celebration Carnaval de Westgate. This event is completely outdoors (except for limited access to washrooms). This Westgate Parents' Society sponsored event is free for everyone to attend. Students and teachers will be engaging in activities celebrating culture and all things winter throughout the week; to wrap up this fun filled week, Carnaval de Westgate will feature outdoor games, snow shoeing, hot chocolate, food trucks, a crepe station, festive music as well as ice skating on our community rink - all weather permitting of course! Alongside the hot chocolate, water bottles will be available.

Grab your mitts and toques and join us for an evening of fun and community building!!

These events would not be made possible without your help. We are looking for volunteer help to make this event successful. If you are able to volunteer your time or are able to donate items, please see the signup link: https://signup.com/go/bqxSdWT

We will also be collecting bottles this year. Look for the Bowness Bottle Depot truck parked along 8 Avenue on the north side of the school between 4:30 - 6:30pm. Proceeds will fund various school initiatives such as in-house residencies like Cabane à sucre and Folkfolie.
