Indoor Recess

When temperatures reach -20 Celsius or colder including the wind-chill factor, CBE Risk Management recommends that students be kept inside for recess or lunch breaks. The -20 Celsius guideline is comparable to other school jurisdictions in Alberta and across Canada. This past week the students stayed inside from Monday to Wednesday, but thankfully 😊, we were able to send them out Thursday and Friday. Please always be sure your children have gloves, mittens, tuques, with them on these cold days. Merci!

Hanukkah Read Aloud

Thank you Mme Maggie for reading “Dino-Hanoukkah” to our school on Thursday morning. This is one way we are ensuring that all students are able to share how they celebrate the holidays with their families.

Thank you to our Parents

On behalf of all Westgate Staff, we would like to thank our Parent Society for organizing the Staff Appreciation Breakfast as well as the parents that provided food. It was an amazing spread of very delicious food and it was very much appreciated. Also, thank you for providing funds for our Staff Holiday Event. We continue to be so grateful for this generous support.

Gymnastics

On Monday, January 13, we are beginning our gymnastics unit. This unit will last until Tuesday, January 28 and will take place during your child’s regularly scheduled physical education time. If your child has long hair, please send an elastic to tie their hair back.

Special Lunch & Popcorn Days

If your child is absent on any of the upcoming Special Lunch Days and you have placed an order, it will be given away if we do not have instructions otherwise. If you would like to pick up your order or have it sent home with someone, we ask that you please call the office no later than 11:30am.

Popcorn orders will be saved and given to your child when they return to school.
