Mme Stephanie – Leave of Absence
Please be aware that Mme Stephanie Leech, Assistant Principal, is on a short-term leave until the end of the school year. Mme Tanis Allan and Mme Sheena Abboud-McKenzie will be helping Mme Julie out in the office during her absence. We are fortunate to have Mme Karen Desjarlais filling in for PE and Grade 6.
Sincere thanks to special School Council members
On behalf of all Westgate staff I would like to extend sincere gratitude to Sheri Bolitho, Dana Hnatiuk and Marsha Wagner. These three ladies are stepping down from our School Council this year. Sheri has helped as a member of School council and/or parent volunteer for 11 years and her commitment to support student learning and school events has been unbelievably generous. Dana and Marsha have been members of our School Council, secretary and key communicator respectively, for a few years now and their contributions have been very much appreciated.
Teacher swap
On Friday, June 21, all students will visit classrooms in the next grade level. This allows them to meet the teaching team, see the classrooms and get a glimpse into activities and special projects they will experience next school year. Grade 6 students love being able to visit the Kindergarten classes and play in the centres!
IPPs
IPPs went home to parents on Monday, June 10. Please review and return the signature page with the end of year review section completed and signed by Monday, June 17. Please connect with your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
Staff Appreciation Breakfast
There is one last opportunity for parents to show appreciation to staff at a year-end breakfast on Friday, June 21. If you would like to sign up to bring something, please use this link.
Register for Transportation for 2024-25
Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2024-2025 school year. Service levels and proposed fees will remain the same as the current school year.
Registration is available using your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, learn how to create one.)
Families must register for transportation by Sunday, June 16 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. Registrations will still be accepted after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.
You can cancel your transportation with no financial impact by filling in the cancellation form before September 30, 2024.
Lost and Found
We continue to have a large amount of lost and found items. Please remind your children to be sure they check they have all their belongings when transitioning from outside to inside. Unclaimed items will be sent to charity at the end of the day on June 27, please remember to check for your child’s lost items by Noon on Thursday, June 27.
