Grade 1 Celebration of Learning
We would like to sincerely thank all the families of Grade 1 students for joining the wonderful assembly this past week. The students were so proud to perform and share their learning and the teachers did an exceptional job planning for it. Merci!
SnowBall and Holiday Donations Update
We were very fortunate to receive many donations from our Westgate Community. The items were sent to our sister school, Sherwood, and they were very grateful to receive and share them with families in need in their school community. We also received many donated gift cards which will be shared with families in need in our own community prior to the winter break.
Holiday Celebration
On Monday, December 16, 2024, students are invited to wear crazy holiday hats, socks, sweaters, etc. We will also be decorating our Holiday Tree with contributions from each class and student sharing how they celebrate their holidays with their families.
On Friday, December 20th, students are invited to wear pajamas and students will be treated to a movie event in our gym. We will do a full school assembly on our last day of school to sing some winter/holiday songs together.
Gymnastics
On Monday, January 13, we are beginning our gymnastics unit. It will take place during your child’s regularly scheduled physical education time. If your child has long hair, please send an elastic to tie their hair back.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is extremely full of lost items. If you wish to come to the school to look through the lost and found during school hours, please enter through the main entrance and sign in at the office.
Items that are not claimed by December 19, will be donated to charity.
Lockdown
We had our first lockdown on Friday, December 6th, 2024. Teachers had time to discuss the procedures and expectations and minimize any anxiety the students may have been experiencing. Two members of the CPS came and helped the students understand the protocols
and how practice lockdowns are done to keep them safe. Our next lockdown is March 18th in the afternoon, please don’t hesitate to contact the office if you have any questions or concerns.
