Crosswalk and Bus Safety
We made an announcement to all students yesterday about the use of crosswalks and expected bus behavior. Students and parents are asked to only use the crosswalks during drop-off and pick-up times. For those who arrive late and park across the street, the crosswalks must also be used.
Students on buses are expected to stay seated in their assigned seats, talk quietly with those around them and not touch or take other students’ belongings. If your child is feeling unsafe or uncomfortable on the bus, it is very important they report it to the office or their teacher so we can address it immediately.
Lates
We have been seeing an increasing number of students arriving late to school each morning. While we understand that poor weather conditions can contribute to his, as we move into spring, we kindly ask for your support at home in helping students arrive on time. The first few minutes of the school day are crucial, as teachers use this time to set the tone for the day and provide direct instruction.
Read-a-thon – Thank you!
Sincere thanks to those families who were supportive of Westgate students participating in the Read-a-thon. It was evident that students were excited to read and motivated to reach their goals. Special thanks to Holly-Joy Stanford who organized this amazing fundraiser for our school!
SoundKreations | Dance Residency
We are thrilled to welcome back SoundKreations for our annual dance residency. Part of our Physical Education curriculum focuses on directional movement and patterns and sequences of movement in rhythmic and expressive activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from an expert in the field of dance. Students will be learning moves in all three dance styles in this residency, which will run from April 30 - May 15.
