Crosswalks – Westminster Drive and 8th Avenue – IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Now that it is darker in the morning, we are asking that you drive very slowly down Westminster Drive in front of the school, particularly when approaching the crosswalks. It is very difficult to see parents waiting with their children at the side of and/or in the crosswalk, so please take your time and be vigilant.
Accessible parking spot – on Westminster Drive – this is only one of two accessible parking spots near to Westgate School. We understand it is a busy area with the crosswalk and school buses arriving, but we ask that you be respectful and leave this spot accessible for those who need it.
Clubs
All students in Grades 4 to 6 attended a virtual presentation on our School Clubs this week. There will be a winter and spring session for clubs and students are permitted to participate in clubs throughout the year. Sincere thanks to our teachers who set their own lunch time aside to prepare and supervise these optional activities for our students.
Volunteers Needed for School Events
Westgate School Council is looking for volunteers to help plan this year's social events: Snowball, Carnavale and Gatorfest. We need help with things like: planning outdoor and indoor activities, concession stands, hot chocolate stations, the gym dances, sorting donated items or food, and welcome any other fun ideas that you may have. Remembrance Day Assembly – November 6 – Staff and students only
As we will have all students gathered together for our Remembrance Day Assembly on November 6th, we won’t be inviting parents to join us. The Grade 5 students will be singing but Mme Kim has agreed to video their performance and post it on her Google Classroom site.
Photo Retake Day and Class Photos
Photo retake day and class photos will be held on Monday, November 4. If you would like your child to have retakes, please check the “retake request box” at the bottom of order form and send it with your child on retake day. If your child was absent on photo day, please send a note with your child indicating that you would like them to have their photo taken.
