Carnavale 

This week’s 2nd Annual Carnaval d’hiver was a huge success! The students really enjoyed the Cabane à Sucre on Wednesday and the cultural activity stations they rotated through on Thursday. The students from the Bishop Pinkham and Western Canada Francophonie Clubs came on Wednesday to attend a presentation together with Roger Dallaire and enjoy some delicious Québécois food. All Westgate students enjoyed a wonderful presentation with Roger Dallaire filled with traditional Québécois music, storytelling and dance. We were also so pleased to see a great turnout of families at our Family Celebration on Thursday afternoon. Sincere thanks to both our Francophonie club students and teachers for organizing the school-based activities and the Westgate School Council for organizing the Family Event. Sincere thanks to Sheri Bolitho and Stephanie Paquet for planning and supervising the event along with all the parent volunteers who came out to assist, especially those who stepped up to wear the Bonhomme costume! We’re already looking forward to next year! 

Read-A-Thon

Westgate students will be participating in our very own literacy week from February 12 - 21, 2024. Please see the flyer sent home with students last week and the email sent to families on February 6th. 

Valentine’s Day Cards

Students may share Valentine’s Day cards with their classmates, but please ensure to include all students. We would like to ask parents to refrain from sending food items for students to share in class. Also, please do not include food items with Valentine’s Day cards to give to students. If you have questions related to Valentine’s Day activities, please communicate with your child’s classroom teacher. 

Child’s Play – Lost and Found

Please remind your children to bring all their belongings from their coat hooks to Child’s Play after school. After 2:45pm, students and staff in Child’s Play do not have access to the classrooms and hallways in the other parts of the school. The items will have to be collected the next day. Thank you for your understanding.
